My upper Body Workout

Hey! The plan was to get up early this morning and go for a run, however I injured my calf so I'm taking today off from any sort of lower body work! Instead I went to the gym and did a full upper body workout. I recently just started training the way I use to before my bikini competition. The last year or so I've been doing split workouts. Basically what that means is every gym session I would focus on one or two specific muscles. I find that doesn't really work for me anymore so instead I've switched back to full body workouts or upper body and lower body workouts., focusing on multiple muscles in one gym session. I have also started back to an hour class called Body Attack which I have mentioned in previous posts. I did this full upper body workout today and thought I would share it with all of you!

SUMMER FRESH BERRY SALAD


As I have mentioned before I literally love salads, especially in the summer because they are so refreshing and super nutritious (if you put the right things into them!) This berry salad is probably one of my fav's.  Ill have this for either lunch or dinner :)

Recipe:
1 cup lettuce (This is spring mix, I usually use spinach for the extra nutrients but i ran out)
1 cup of mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries and black berries)
small handful of chopped walnuts
1 can of Tuna in water (you can swap the tuna for salmon or chicken breast)
2 tbsps. balsamic vinegar

Cutest Pleated Fit And Flare Dress

Keeping it Classy


 
Good morning beauties! Well this week went by pretty fast! It's already Friday and I am super excited for the weekend! Any who on to today's post...

I think the best compliment I have ever gotten (in my opinion) is the way I present myself with class. I'm a strong believer that women should act like ladies and should respect themselves including the way they present themselves. I find it sad when I see young girls walking the streets half naked. I mean I'm all about expressing who you are but I say do it in a respectful manner not for anyone else but for yourself. I want to be a role model for young girls and hopefully one day a great role model for my own little girls. So all you ladies and young girls out there remember this...

'A lady displays self-respect, class, appreciation, and etiquette. She does not allow her mood to affect her manners. Being a classy lady doesn’t mean that you should be snobby or stuck up, but that you should have dignity, consideration, and moderation in your daily actions.'

Wedge Life Shopping

Breakfast Yogurt Parfait Recipe


Good morning lovelies! I cant believe it's already Wednesday! The last couple days have been a little rough so I took this morning to just have some down time. I love waking up in the morning and sitting outside and enjoying my breakfast with some coffee and yes my guilty pleasure of magazines :) Breakfast is definitely my favourite meal of the day and this is one of my favourites. It's a yogurt parfait filled with nutrients to help get my day started on the right track!
Here is the recipe for those who want to try :)
 
1/2 cup Yogurt
1/2 Scoop Protein Powder (Optional)
1 tbsp. Chia Seeds
1 cup Mixed Berries
10 Roasted Almonds (I love roasting hem myself in the oven)

Why self-confidence is important




Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend!! I kind of wish is was one more day longer. The weather was beautiful so I was basically outdoors all weekend...I got a bit of a burn but oh well I'm not complaining! Any who enough about this weekend and on to today's post...

SELF-CONFIDENCE!! What does it mean to be self-confident? and why is it important?

  "To be self-confident is to have confidence in yourself. Self-confident people don't doubt themselves. This is usually a positive word: you can be self-confident without being cocky, arrogant, or overconfident. If you know what you’re doing, you have every reason to be self-confident."

I think a lot of us understand what self-confidence is but I don't think many of us understand why it is important! I feel it take a conscious effort to become self-confident, I say this because for me it took a conscious effort to build my self-confidence. Being someone who has suffered from multiple eating disorders its easy to see that at one point in time I had very low self-confidence so I have had to work on it. It's taken me quite some time but I have finally reached a point in my life where I do have a higher self confidence and i value myself more than I ever have.

Here are some reasons why Self-Confidence is important:
  1.  Greater self worth: I feel like the more self confidence you have, the more you value yourself and the more you value what you are capable of, then the more valuable you feel; this is what creates the effect of naturally holding your head up high, since you have higher self esteem and are proud of who you are.
  2. More happiness and enjoyment: the more self confident you are, the happier you are with yourself and as a result, the more you enjoy life.
  3. Less self doubt: the more self confident you become, the more free you become of the mental torture of doubting yourself, and questioning whether you're 'really' valuable, or capable of achieving things you want to achieve.
  4. Greater strength and capabilities: the more self confident you are, the stronger and more powerful you feel; you also naturally grow stronger and more confident when encountering challenges, rather than feeling defeated by them.
  5. Freedom from social anxiety: the more secure you feel in your self worth, regardless of how others see you, the less concerned you are with what others might or might not think of you in social situations.
  6. More energy and motivation to act: the more confident you are that you can achieve things you want to achieve (like personal goals or dreams), the more motivated and energized you are to take action to achieve them.
  7. Giving off good vibes to others: the happier and more confident you are, the more relaxed, comfortable, and at ease you are, and this puts others at ease more around you. Also with these qualities others tend to trust, respect, value, welcome, and cooperate with you more.
  8. Success: in case it's ever been a mystery to you why self confident people are naturally more successful, now you can clearly understand why there is such a high correlation between self confidence and success; each of the above benefits helps you achieve things you want to achieve faster and easier, which means you enjoy more success in life.
I am not saying that everyone is 100% confident everyone has there things including myself! I do feel however it is important to understand how being more self confident can have a huge positive impact on your over all life!

Effects of Bulimia on the body



Hey Gang! Today I am dedicating a post to hopefully help you all understand the effects an eating disorder has and how damaging it can be on the body. I am going to focus more specifically on Bulimia which I myself have suffered from, as most of you know. The image above shows just some of the effects bulimia has on the body. I have defintely suffered from some of these shown in the image above so I can relate to anyone else who has as well. People are often shocked when I tell them that eating disorders effect more than just your weight, it effects some of the most important organs in your body which is the why some die from this disorder. I feel like its important for even those who don't suffer to really understand this mental illness because you never know if one day someone you love will need your help and support.

Fitness Friday


Happy Friday Everyone!! I hope you all had a fantastic week! Was it just me or did this week feel like the longest week ever?! I got in a early morning workout this morning before the weekend fun begins. I thought i would share it with you all so you can give it a shot. It's a full body weight training workout. Make sure to use a weight that challenges you but where you can still keep proper form to avoid injury.

My Green Smoothie Recipe


Good morning gang! It's Thursday which means tomorrow is FRIDAY!!! I am so excited for this weekend. The weather is suppose to be beautiful and its a long weekend here in Ontario!! I plan on doing a ton of outdoors stuff this weekend to take advantage of this weather since it doesn't last very long! What are you up to this weekend? I'd love to hear :) Today I thought I would share my all time favourite smoothie recipe. I am a huge lover of smoothies because they are super easy and quick to make and they are packed with nutritious ingredients (when made with the right ingredients of course) As I have mentioned many times in my blog, breakfast is so important! Skipping breakfast leads to nothing but negative outcome. Smoothies are great for those who say 'I don't have time' because like I said its quick and easy, you just through ingredients into a blender and TA-DA!

Recipe:
1/2 banana
1 scoop peanut butter isolate protein
handful of spinach
1 tbsp. peanut butter (sometimes ill have 1/2 small avocado instead)
1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
1/2 cup water
dash on cinnamon
1 tbsp. Chia seeds (if you are drinking it right away you can put them in the blender but if you are saving your smoothie for later I suggest holding off putting them in the blender and just mix them in when you do decide to drink it. The chia seeds expand and get gooey which personally I'm not a fan)

Blend all ingredients in a blender and ENJOY!

Passion for Fashion

Signs it's time to change up your workout...


Working out is one of those things that is super exciting when you first start but it can soon become a little bit of a drag, especially if you weren't a fan of working out in the first place. There are many reasons for this... because you are sick of repeating the same thing week by week or you are finding that your body just isn't responding like it first was. Whatever the reason is, it could be signs that it's time to switch things up! I have definitely gone through all of the signs I'm about to list so I thought I would share and give you all some tips on how I overcame them!

Your workout no longer challenges you: If you can relate to this one then CONGRATUALTIONS! This means you have become stronger which is a good thing! However it's time to make things a little bit for difficult! Some ways to do this is to push yourself a little harder. Do more reps or sets, increase your weights or speed when doing cardio, try taking shorter rest periods...really anything that makes your workout a little bit more challenging will do wonders!

You are not seeing results anymore: This relates to the point above...When you consistently do the same workouts your body adapts and it doesn't challenge your body anymore. A good solution for this is to change things up! I love switching things up! I was doing split workouts; meaning I would train a certain muscle group 6 days a week and I was doing about 15 minutes of steady state cardio. I was finding that I was getting bored and my body wasn't responding so I switched things up. I am now doing more full body circuit training and instead of using cardio machines I started doing a high aerobics class that I use to do years ago and love it! The class really challenges me and it has great music. If you are a Goodlife Member than I highly recommend trying the class. It's called Body Attack. Check your local Goodlife gym for class schedule.

You don't look forward to going to the gym: I find this one tends to happen when things get boring or you lose motivation. When this happens try to refocus and remind yourself of your goals. Some other things that I like to do is buy a new pair of workout clothes, nothing like working out in a new and fresh pair of workout clothes! Create a new workout playlist or try something totally different like kickboxing or Hot Yoga! I find these help me :)

There are many more signs however these are a few that I have struggled with in the past!

Mini Muffin Quiche Recipe

 
Happy Friday Everyone!! I thought today I'd share a favourite recipe of mine! They are super easy to make and very convenient because the recipes makes many and is great for leftovers. It can be eaten at any time of the day really! I hope you all enjoy it :)

Ingredients:

Olive oil cooking spray

6 strips of turkey bacon

1 tablespoon olive oil

10 ounces white mushrooms, coarsely chopped

1 small shallot, thinly sliced

Himalayan salt and freshly ground black pepper

2 cups baby spinach

Pinch of nutmeg

2 large eggs

6 egg whites

1/4 cup skim milk

1/3 cup (1 1/2 ounces) feta cheese

Directions:

1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees and lightly coat a 12-cup nonstick muffin pan with nonstick cooking spray.

2. Mist a large nonstick skillet with more nonstick cooking spray and put over medium heat. Add the turkey bacon and cook turning frequently until crispy (about 8 minutes). Once bacon is cooked coarsely chop.

3. In the same skillet, heat the oil. Add the mushrooms, shallot, and season to taste with salt and pepper. Cook until shallots are soft and the mushrooms are dry and lightly browned (about 10 minutes). Remove from the heat and stir in the baby spinach and nutmeg until the spinach is just wilted, but still bright green (about 2 minutes). Set aside to cool.

4. while cooling, whisk the eggs, egg whites, milk, and salt and pepper until well combined. Stir in the cheese. Divide the egg mixture evenly between the muffin tins, filling them about halfway. Top evenly with the mushroom and spinach mixture and then the chopped bacon.

5. Bake until the quiches are well risen, golden brown and set (20 to 25 minutes). Cool in the pan 5 minutes and then transfer to a wire rack (if you have one).

6. Enjoy 2 mini quiches for breakfast, lunch, or dinner! I like to have it with toast in the morning or for lunch and dinner ill have a salad with it :)

Hey y'all! I hope everyone is having a fabulous week! Surprisingly this week we have had spring like weather which calls for spring like clothes..FINALLY! If you have been following me on here or
Instagram (@beYOUtifulstephanie) then you know that comfort for me is super important! I hate wearing clothes that are uncomfortable and not stretchy like material. This outfit is honestly super comfortable yet stylish and spring like! I got this dress from Mendocino which I posted in previous  posts. It comes in a beige colour as well. The chiffon cardigan I got from my sister closet (hehe) and she bought it from Sirens. My shoes are from Le Chateau and my bracelets which you can't really see but are super cute are from Spring. S'WELL- Cute Water Bottles



 
Hey Lovelies! I have the weirdest obsession with water bottles! I literally will not go anywhere without one. You will probably notice some kind of water bottle in majority of my pictures LOL... I recently found this brand called S'WELL. They have the cutest water bottles!! I actually got this one from a new Hot Yoga place I am going to. I went to their website and was in water bottle heaven!
