I find the older I get the more I am realizing what and more specifically who is most important to me in life. I'm the type of person that will go out of my way for pretty much anyone, not because I feel I have to but because I love helping people. Some have told me that I have the 'Mother Theresa syndrome' meaning I try to help everyone I can and I try to fix everyone's problems. In doing this my own happiness takes a little bit of a back seat and I don't necessarily do what’s best for me. I also think that my focus tends to sway away from those who actually deserve it, and instead is given to those who don't necessarily deserve it. I guess what I'm trying to get at in this post, is that sometimes you need to take a step back and look at the big picture and analyze if who and what you are focusing on is actually beneficial for you. I find taking the time to break it down really helps in doing this. Over the past month I have really taken the time to think about it, I like to call it 'decluttering my life'. By decluttering I don't mean spring cleaning (unless this helps you then go for it!)…What I mean is removing the relationships from your life that regularly drag you down or damage you and focus more on those healthy relationships by keeping in touch with those people. What I really found was in order to declutter relationships, I had to put full closure to the relationships that are no longer in my life. It's such a breath of fresh air knowing that I've managed to do this, as hard as it is!
Is it time for you to 'declutter'?
Hugs;
